27.04.2013

A call to a gathering of people

Ricordare l'impegno del movimento sindacale. This week, Egypt Independent, founded in 2009, a young institution of 35 journalists and writers is forced to end.

Join us this Saturday, for "A call to a gathering of people to raise their glasses and bring their own drinks together in honor of art and (young) institutions".

Beirut’s Season 3 (27 of April - 30 of June 2013) makes time for itself, dedicating its program to its founding question. It starts off with “What is an institution? The First Meeting”, convening the human resources that shape Kunsthalle Lissabon, CCA Derry~Londonderry, FormContent and art in general, calling on the Institution of Art to break down The Colossal Question.

We invite FormContent to realize “The falling of the books...” —a subjective reading of The Library of their current programme “It’s Moving from I to It”. It inspires in thinking of the role of language. “How am I talking?” explores their use of fiction in assembling a programme, the types of language that are used to create an institution and the impact of narrative both on the works of art and their distribution. “How am I talking?” marks one of five sections that organize the select repository of art, work(s), documents, sounds and images, with reference to thinking about institutions and the help of (works by) Åbäke, Goldin+Senneby, Oliver Laric, Pilvi Takala, Harald Thys and Jos De Gruyter, amongst others. “The falling of the books…” is in-progress, temporary, growing, evolving and in-use.
